July Features DOUBLE the Community Media!(August 2nd, 2010)
Digging through and choosing content to be featured for the month of July wasn't easy. And while our little hickup caused June to be skipped, we hopefully made a swift comeback and gave you all double the recognitions! Great work to everyone who got their content featured, you created some truly great media. Check out July's featured community media!
After seeing a huge amount of real world spotting videos and pictures, the recognitions for the month of August will feature much more than your indoor cockpit. So get your cameras out and post content on the forums for a chance to get recognized!
It's about time for an update!(July 5th, 2010)
Summer time means warm weather, and warm weather generally makes us flight simulation enthusiasts get outside and enjoy the sunshine (not to mention the air shows). So it's no wonder that things are a little slow here lately. But for the time being, let this update fill you in on what's happening here at GearDownFS.
We've mainly got our attention divided between two areas at the moment: developing the website and creating tutorials.
With the website, we want to make it more accessible and useable than it currently is. Unfortunately, we are all learning how to make this happen as we go, so it's gonna take a little trial and error to get us there. We might not be the fastest working team, but we're certainly dedicated to figuring this stuff out!
Tutorials, well, you know what we mean by tutorials. We've got a few tutorials planned, and you can check them out in the NOTAMs page. It's just a matter of finding time so we can finish and release them. Remember that we are going to be creating both written tutorials and video tutorials now, since not every topic can easily be covered in a video tutorial.
In the mean time, we're out enjoying the summer, whether it's logging real flight hours, shooting photography at EDDN, or spending a day in the canoe. So don't worry, we're still working on improving GDFS and our services, but we've got to enjoy the weather while it lasts!
If you're going to any airshows this summer, make sure to grab the camera and share some of your pictures with the community on the forum!

We have finally sorted through all the media content posted by our members and have chosen two screenshots and one video to feature. Great work to everyone who got their content featured, you created some truly great media. Check out May's featured community media!
Remember, if your disappointed to see your posted media wasn't chosen, there is always next time. We will be choosing the next set featured content out of everything posted on the forums in June.
